Reflection on the Gaslamp Event Management company
The process of picking the Gaslamp Event Management company was challenging because I was sure that I did not have the necessary experience they would require, and that they would ask me several challenging questions in my interview. To be prepared, I came up with a few items that I expected to be asked during the interview. Nonetheless, I was confident that I would be the best candidate since I am always ready to learn. Being an event management company, I figured out that they would need to know any background experience I might have for the job. As much as I did a little bit of planning for events for the Asian Community club in school, I was still not confident that such would be enough experience for the job. The firm would mostly require someone who has experience in outsourcing and supplier management because of the many outside services it provides. Again, it also felt like the school club event was very small compared to what I was getting into with Gaslamp Event Management. Nonetheless, organizing events in school was always something that I did well. All the activities I organized were all successful, and I can proudly state that my previous projects in event planning went well. Therefore, I overcame that challenge knowing that I had done that little task well, and thus I was able to take more significant functions with Gaslamp Event Management.
If I am to get a position at Gaslamp Event Management, I should be able to work overtime and sometimes out of my area of residence on business trips. Since it is an event management firm, such cases would be very likely. I did not feel as if that would be challenging as I would take such opportunities to gain more experience and also learn more skills. Therefore, I would be glad to work overtime and even go on business trips outside my area of residence. That is how I overcame that challenge. Next, because the firm arranges outside events, I felt that they needed somebody who has that knowledge in the construction process and its materials. Despite having no experience in that, I overcame that challenge, knowing I would gain more knowledge and skills as I continue working for Gaslamp Event Management.
In terms of skill, being a communication major is an added advantage since I am excellent in communication. Thus, I was confident that I would be able to have unique customer interaction experience as such is mandatory for such kind of jobs. However, I was optimistic that I would be asked if I had any plans with my major if I was to start working for the firm. I was confident in the question since I would have better client and customer experience if I went further to have more education on the same. Additionally, communication is vital when one may have to disagree with a supervisor. That way, I can effectively communicate my argument without having to make a supervisor feel disrespected. More so, because respect is paramount in any job environment, I will eventually be creating an excellent job rapport with my peers. Because of that, I was confident with the question of what I would do if I disagreed with my supervisor. Also, in terms of activity execution, I expected a question on the same that I was confident in since I believe in gradual improvement, and that it is essential to always improve in whatever one does to have the best results at the end. With my few skills and little experience, I was still confident that I would be an excellent resource to Gaslamp Event management.
If I was to be asked on my impression of the company, I felt that it would be a challenging question since, despite having attended a few events organized by them. I do not know about the plans and goals that the company has. Regardless, as I get acquainted with the firm’s processes once I get recruited, I will be able to learn. Nonetheless, I was confident about all the other questions about my experiences and skills concerning my major. After a lot of research and preparation, I had to try out with friends and see what question they would ask me and make a comparison with what I had prepared for. To my surprise, I had anticipated most of those questions than I had thought after consulting with my peers. Additionally, I got more knowledge and confidence in whatever that was coming next. Eventually, it falls back to interest, skills, and previous experiences. I was ready to learn new things and to better my skills gradually. I am excited to know that my communication major is vital for this job, and through communication skills, I will be able to have a smooth running with my clients as well as with my supervisors.
