Reflective Essay on Effort Based Grading

Learning is the essence of education in our society, and the vehicle used to achieve the objective is teaching. I believe that the fundamental component in learning-teaching practice is the student outcomes and achievements. The effort that the student produces will surely enable them to achieve the best goals in school. However, we should not forget that in school, there are those students who talented naturally. Therefore, it will be a bad idea to begin factoring in such activities as “effort” into grading.

I believe the result of any achievement is performance. The tools that people require to gain skills or knowledge needed to master the subject. To then reward students grounded on their effort in any substantial manner, ultimately risks teaching them the moral that achieving enough of that would be appropriate to get through. I’m afraid I have to disagree. The life we live in does not work in such reasoning. Moreover, I think that it is the primary obligation for both parents and teachers to prepare their regions to flourish, not just in school but also in life.

According to my experience, one of my friends anticipated getting through the class if they submitted every assignment, attended every lecture, and spoke up enough numeral of times.  It is all appropriate and diligent thing to do. However, not all that apply in the real world, because what if they do not understand how to elucidate the problems or analyze the matter in question. The lecturer, who provided credit for “effort,” will surely send students into a labor force where effort matters and is appreciated-but only if it turns into equal performance.  In the professional world, no employee is going to give extra credit to extra effort. All the world demands are performance.

Moreover, I feel we should understand how to quantify effort and how to understand the individual’s struggle. In most cases, we handle our studies at home. Do you think the student does burn the midnight lamp? How do you grade two students who, in the end, produce the same performance of B plain? It is not easy to give that credit by effort because, in the end, they gave in the same return. It is where factors about liking one of the students will come in. In reality, there are pupils who teachers love the most in class than others. I cannot blame them; they are humans, after all, because they also subjected to the same moral limitations as we do. When one introduces the ‘effort’ grading, one instantly opens up an assortment of problems where personal bias certainly comes into play.

Also, I would love to speak about naturally talented students in our society. I have friends who are talented typically, and it will be unfair for them to experience effort-based grading while they can perform well with less effort. We refer to them as gifted students who are different from most students, and they do not need much effort at all to succeed because of high intelligence. I am not a professional instructor, but for a fair test, it requires the standards of judgment and procedures of the game need to comprise three things-predictability, precise and clear. It will be easy to put a course of action when all the three rules followed, and everyone will deserve the outcome of the test.

We have experienced cases where coaches are hard on players by being tough and hard on the subjects. However, in the end, they produce the same result. I believe that the best coaching mechanism is to teach people to achieve credit based on the results they produce. It will help tune both students to adapt to wanting to get higher performance as the world requires them to do. Furthermore, the professional world needs one to finish the report expected in the workplace, and no one cares how much time and sacrifice one made, but all they care about is the results. It is because, in case of any problem, the company will not understand the amount of effort put in place but will have a problem with you not delivering. However, I do not discourage the effort that students put on the daily learning process. I am just trying to make them understand how to prepare for the real world expects them to develop.

Remark on Community Research Group

It is an exciting adventure to engage in community-based research because it allows teamwork between resources and community members‘ exterior to the community. Moreover, with the group, one has a chance to lead an analysis that will help the members either through direct involvement or by using outcomes to notify actions for change. According to Ruth Lawrence’s post, the hard work and determination she puts to work are encouraging and useful. Admittedly, it has paid from her achievements. Furthermore, the performance has enabled her to achieve both accounting and healthcare management skills.
