The deployment of simplified diagrams and words, for example, really makes reading those books very exciting for kids in let’s say 11th or 12th graders. An analysis of the learning approaches clearly brings to light the psychology used in classrooms by teachers. The approaches are built around factors like understanding both the learner and the learning process, which results in the adoption of appropriate methods in teaching to ensure effectiveness in the process.

All About Penguins and the lesson

            The book All About Penguins is written with much simplicity considering the target audience, who are 11th and 12th graders. The author uses pictures and short comprehendible sentences that are fun to read by a kid at that stage. The author understands the age and level of brain ability of their target audience; the author knows deploying diagrams alongside exciting pictures will make the process of reading the text really exhilarating to the kids. The same approach would probably seem silly to a group of students older than that and whose level of reasoning and psychology is considered somewhat matured. The lesson from the book is getting the reader to know the similarities and differences that exist among the penguin species of birds. But considering the target group, the author has to understand them, which clearly shows the application of educational psychology that demands that the teacher understands their learners. This applied knowledge also champions the idea that the teacher understands the teaching process. The instructional strategies applied, and the basis for selecting the best suiting teaching methods which content and fulfill the need by students (Shakir and Sharma 2017).

The lessons clearly state to the learner the use of ‘ALL’ and ‘some’ to enlighten the reader more about the similarities and differences. I reality, there are some distinct features about the penguin species, but for an 11th or 12th grader, it is hard to get the distinction in case the mode of learning is not appropriate. The lesson about penguins clearly deploys a learning process that is simple. The grammar used is also basic and easy for the learner to understand and for the teacher to convey their message effectively. The use of diagrams as a tool creates a fascinating context for the kids, but at the same time, they’re able to get the message. From the instructions, the pupil is able to learn that penguins are birds, the instructor provides pictures showing the penguins. The use of diagrams as a teaching tool deploys the paradigm of constructivism, which states that individuals create their own understanding of stuff by using what they know about something or previous experience. The previous experience linked with some information creates a meaning to them. The diagrams help the kids create an understanding in their brains about what a penguin is. From the lessons, the learner is able to tell the kid that penguins can not fly. The lessons inform the learner that all penguins can swim by displaying images of the birds swimming in water. The instructional strategies used makes the process of conveying information effectively. The instructor uses the word ‘some’ to inform the learner about the differences that exist among penguins. After setting the ground for the learner to learn what exactly a penguin is, the instructor is able to tell their learners that there are also some differences that exist among the penguins. Appropriate tools like the use of colored images and simple phrases that are repetitive make the learning process effective. This clearly explains the concept behind psychology in the education discipline, which is the study of human behavior and experience with regard to the teaching and learning process (Shakir and Sharma 2017). The lessons clearly help deuce that the teacher clearly understands the behavior of the kids I the respective grade and their level of experience as learners. In teaching them about the differences that exist between penguins, the tools used clearly relays the information. Some of the stated differences that exist are; Some of the penguins live in cold places, others live in cold places, some penguins are small in size while there are other penguins that are big in size. The existing penguin species have some penguins that are black and white in color, while some are blue and white in color (Kortemartin and Kortemartin 2017). It is clear that an 11th grader has the same information but relayed differently; this is due to the effective technique used. The lesson is simple and delightful; through the lesson, the teacher shows pictures of the birds that aids in understanding; for instance, ¸ to differentiate the existence of different penguin sizes, diagrams of both small and large penguins are displayed. The tutor also shows penguins that have blue backs and white bellies alongside penguins with black backs and white bellies for the learner to get the idea that indeed there are different kinds of penguins.

Three Baby Birds and the lesson

            In the book ‘Three Baby Birds,’ the author intends to tell the reader about the existing development process in birds. Biologically birds reproduce by laying of eggs. As it is clear in with the paradigms of teaching and learning, using complicated language destroys the understanding ability of an 11th or 12th grader. It requires that the teacher/author understand their student and use the fitting tools and techniques to teach. The book uses illustrations that appear mindless, but considering their audience, it is actually delighting for the students. The author uses diagrams showing a bird, eggs, a nest, and uses simple conjunctions like then, next, etc. to connect the sentences in line with the diagrams. The kids reading the books are able to tell that a bird lays eggs, hatches them, and then once the chicks are grown, they fledge and fully fly away. The imagery created by the diagrams delights the leaners as they mature egg-laying bird in this context is given the ability to rest like a human being, seated with a glass containing some drink. The simplicity makes it easier for the learner to get the message being relayed in the book. The lesson makes it even comprehendible by first arranging the pictures showing the development stages of the birds with the instructor slowly explaining the stages from laying eggs, then hatching and up to the stage where the chicks fly away from their mother’s nest.

Conclusion

To be able to achieve an effective teaching and learning process. It is clear that the teacher needs to clearly master their learners; that is their age, which determines their level of understanding, the learning process, and the most desirable teaching tools to use. This works in line with the psychology behind the paradigms of education and learning, which creates a conducive environment for all levels of learners to be able to learn and master new concepts taught to them.
