Responses on Prophets.
Hi Sinia Campos
I have read your post, and I find it inarguably interesting. Indeed you have talked about the common misconception that most people usually have, and I agree with you on most aspects. Most Christians indeed lack or are biased when it comes to the definition of a true prophet and hence only limit the definition to somebody whose only role is to predict the future. Well, that is true in a more excellent way, but that should not mark the end of our definitions. Because doing that renders minor prophet like Jonah “useless” because they didn’t predict the future. Indeed apart from predicting the future and warning people, prophets had a significant role in bringing people to Yahweh and making them repent. Lastly, I want to say that we live in a world where people disguise as prophets, but let’s not forget that a prophet is called by God the bible, not in *** that the word of the Lord came to Elijah”. Prophet’s primary work is to proclaim the message on behalf of God and to declare his nature as a merciful one. Thank you.
Hi Silvia Boone
The fantastic post you have there. You have tackled a serious matter, and I must say I am quite impressed. I agree with your sentiments on the authoritative nature of the prophets during the ancient period as a result of their direct link with God. Moses, one of the greatest prophets on several occasions, spoke with God and was a man who commanded respect when Israel was traveling to Cannan. I want to add on your sentiment by providing a few illustrations that prophets indeed vindicate what is available in the scripture. Micah’s prophecy in Micah 5:2 comes true when the messiah is born in Bethlehem. Let me give my final comments that in as much as great prophets existed, Jesus Christ undeniably stood unparalleled. He served as messenger of the cross, bringing people to salvation, and yet mainly, he was the means through which salvation was achieved. How wonderful is it to have that knowledge and know that every propjet that exists in the mighty Book serve to point to us the greatest prophets of all, Jesus Christ. Thank you.
