similarities and contrasts between blood pressure and hypertension
From the research carried out and the information obtained, it was evident that there were both similarities and contrasts between blood pressure and hypertension. Both similarities and differences will get highlighted in the reflection paper below.
Firs, blood pressure gets defined as the pressure the blood produces as it flows within the arteries due to the narrowing of the hearts muscle. Hypertension is, therefore described as the elevation of the blood pressure of any human being. The normal blood pressure requires of a healthy active person is 120/80; hence a range of 129/80 to 140/90 is considered to be hypertension.
Often people should consider checking their blood pressure levels to prevent the levels from elevation. Nurses should pay keen interest when a patient states that someone in their family has hypotension; they are African American; they are obese or have underlying diseases such as diabetes. Measures get taken to maintain blood pressure at standard rates and to manage hypertension are similar as they apply to manage a healthy lifestyle. Medication is, however, only applied in case of hypertension.
Lastly, both blood pressure and hypertension get measured by obtaining both the systolic and the diastolic pressure using a standard blood pressure cuff. When the results are out in both scenarios, the nurse offers guidelines as to various measures that will enable the patient to maintain the right levels of blood pressure. The difference in the nurse’s interventions is that for hypertension they administer ways to cure it while with blood pressure they administer ways to prevent it from elevating
