Smoking cigarettes
There is a general popular word which goes by; smoking is so harmful to personal health. But many are still smoking. Smoking is nothing but inhalation of hydrocarbon vapours and the gases caused by the burning tobacco. The chemicals in tobacco smoke and the cigarettes renders it harmful. These chemicals are amounted to be over 4000 different chemicals which some of them are poisonous and carcinogenic. Truly, many people have been diagnosed with cigarette-related diseases such as emphysema and lung cancer. These diseases have deteriorated and debilitate the general health of any human being. Currently, one can purchase a cigarette at the age of eighteen. However, due to adverse effects, the cigarettes have on the person’s health and to the environment, it should be banned totally if possible.
Many people believe that smoking cigarette assists them in achieving relaxation of stress and improvement of their concentration hence many clouds of smoke before sitting for exams. The smokers believe also that they can cope up the various difficult situations and improve their confidence. Some smoke when they get bored. Peer pressure has driven many teenagers to smoke. They believe that smoking makes them be cool or make them attain maturity, many people smoke to create friendships at various parties.
However, despite the positive effect of smoking cigarettes as claimed by the smokers, the argument here, therefore, does not support it at all. Smoking is proven to be associated with various deathly diseases and anyone smoking is likely to be contracted with lung cancer which also caused cardiovascularly. Data from the World Health Organization (WHO) shows over one billion people smoke globally and about 5.4 million get succumbed every year due to smoking. Tobacco has severe effects on health since it contains Nicotine which is addictive and harmful to the smoker. Besides, smoking cigarettes harm fertility. Life expectancy and health inequalities are also caused by cigarette smoking. This means that reduction in smoking reduces the mortality rate hence need for decisive acts that root out the epidemic smoking. Smokers also experienced cough and colds. Also, they suffer from dirty and bad teeth which can cause other diseases. Tobacco is associated with bad breath and also stinks in the mouth. Eyes and digestions are adversely affected. The power of endurance is lowered in addition to memory loss.
Smoking escalates breathing problems in teenagers since their heart rate rises at this age. Study shows that teenagers suffer from psychological disorders. Also, women who smoke are at risk of complication during their pregnancies. Newborn baby experiences health problems. High mortality and prenatal rate are caused by smoking during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Cigarette chemicals such as Nicotine and the carbon monoxide are causative agents for abortion. Uterine and cervical cancer is also part of the risk associated with smoking during pregnancy. Also, smoking during pregnancy results in a reduction of milk production for the infant. Besides, there is low production of vitamins. Children whose mothers are smokers are likely to suffer from respiratory disorders such as skin diseases and Asthma.
Statistics show that nearly a third of adults globally are exposed to passive smoking bringing a total of about 600,000 people who succumbed every year due to passive smoking. The Framework Convention on Tobacco Control (FCTC) has played a critical role in decreasing smoking rate globally. Promotion of smoke-free law globally to curb passive smoking is one of the crucial roles that FCTC has played. There is a high rate of smoking among a vulnerable group. This also means that the rate of smoking is high among poor people as compared to rich people hence many poor people spend a lot of money in the acquisition of cigarettes.
Economically, smoking a cigarette pose unnecessary costs to smokers and well as health care services. This act of spending brings a burden to the household budget. Smoking is just a financial trap as it makes an addicted person look an alternative way of getting money to spend on cigarettes. It is hard to completely stump out the smoking of a cigarette. Smoking is a bad habit since once get addicted to smoking, one cannot get rid of the habit so easily. However, through many illnesses, a smoker should take advantage of getting rid of smoking.
Smoking cigarettes cause pollution. Cigarettes butts and other cigarette-related products being disposed on our environment to have affected our ecosystem since all are toxic components. Besides, smoking causes premature ageing is largely contributed by the nicotine. Nicotine causes a change in skin appearance. Smoking involves biochemical changes which accelerate the ageing process.
In conclusion, it is evident from the above discussed the adverse effect of smoking on the entire world that smoking should be termed illegal. Generally, smoking is a risk to individual health hence the need for banning of sales and usage of cigarettes to be put in place. Cigarette smoke poses both children and adults at risks. The outcome of the illegality of smoking would enhance the health state of all the individual or ecosystem as a whole.
