Social Media and Youth’s Moral Development
Introduction
Social media is a new platform that captured the attention of the young population due to the effect it has in connecting them offline. Equally, the young population can access a wide variety of information through social media in private compared to the traditional mainstream media platforms. The advantages offered by social media compared to the mainstream media have seen youth spending much of their time on the internet. This trend is raising fears from diverse stakeholders on the possibility of social media in influencing the moral development of the young population adversely. Thus, the proposed research topic will delve on the influence of social media towards the moral development of the youth.
Proposal
The proposed approach that will be adopted in the research is an argument that social media is contributing to the adverse moral development of the young population. The research project will be conducted by reviewing empirical studies that have evaluated the effect that social media addiction has on the moral values of young people. Equally, the study will explore the two sides of the coin on the issue. The studies that support the argument that social media hurts the moral development of the youth will be compared with studies that counter the argument. The approach will help in promoting the quality and validity of the argument employed by the researcher. Additionally, the background information on social media growth and acceptance will be discovered in the proposed research project. The proposed outline of the proposed research project will be as reflected below.

Thesis
The thesis statement adopted in undertaking the proposed research is that social media hurts the moral development of the youth. The reason to employ this line of the thesis statement is to sensitize parents, guardians, and tutors on the need for controlling the extent to which the young people under their care use social media. The sensitization will help in protecting the youth from immoral exposures from social media.
