The characters maintain the role clearly that a person can identify the interviewer and the one being interviewed. They are confident when asking and answering questions. This is helpful to the social worker students since they can learn the skills of role-taking, and they are going to use these skills when taking performing guidance and counseling sections, especially for the therapist. A student can learn to be how to assess the client accurately and how empathetic they should be when interviewing them.
The students can learn the interviewing skills like being fluent and the way to frame the question to avoid offending the client then give the appropriate advice like when Jasmin advises her client not to leave the husband but to provides her support together with the information. The social worker needs a lot of skill since instances like domestic abuse they need not sympathize with the client; they should give emotional and mental support to the client just like jasmine deals with her client. The students can learn how to listen to the client, and they should provide them with time to talk about their minds. The student should practice turn-taking and make sure they don’t disrupt the client when it is no necessary. They should learn how to advise the client, counsel them, and support them where necessary.
The video is helpful to me because I will use the skills of turn-taking and listening to the client as I interview my clients. I will also use the knowledge to ask questions to the client, especially when dealing with clients who will be hurt when asked questions that remind them of their past.
