SUPPLY MANAGEMENT PLAN
Planning
Planning would be the first step to take to ensure that an ethical supply chain of our textiles in Wenham company. There should be a committee that should set up to come up with the goal, strategy and tactics to ensure that there is proper management of goods supply.
Goals
The main goal should be satisfying the needs of the customers and giving them a better quality of the company’s products (Wailgum & Perkins 2017). Records in this company show that there are several complains from customers where they receive their goods late or in adverse conditions. Therefore, the first goal is to increase the swiftness of the goods flow by 95%, and customers get it half an hour before their requested time, improve packaging, and improve goods value to a 30% quality increase compared to last year. The company needs to improve its parameters to reach an On-Time Delivery performance. The company needs to work in ensuring that goods are supplied adequately with the minimum logistic cost of up to 7% from our previous year’s records. We should also consider merging our products with local companies and signing some contracts with international companies to reach to the global markets, (Farfan 2019).
Tactics
With all the goals put in place, we need to look at the tactics we are going to use to achieve these goals. Train each member in the supply chain to develop proper time management and follow up on their activities, (How to create a supply chain strategic plan 2007). Please increase the number of our tracks to about 50 trucks to allow good quick deliveries. This kind of improvement will also lead us to increase the number of employers. We also need to develop better skills to improve our products by ensuring that we purchase quality equipment like machines to make the textiles and get the quality raw material from our local suppliers. We need to get other raw materials suppliers with low cost but quality materials.
Strategy
To carry out our tactics effectively, we should send some of our employers to local companies to collect some information and allow us to decide on the best company to merge our products within the market. We also need to spot some of the best suppliers of the raw materials that we need to ensure that we acquire the best quality materials. We also need to start having good relationships with international markets, learn which products sell most in their markets, get their supply strategies, and get a company that we can go through to reach those foreign markets.
Sourcing
The main goal is to get raw materials of high quality and high quantity at a low-cost term and to increase the relationship between the buyer and supplier, (Su 2013). The best raw materials will come from our local merchandise. The contents should be of the best quality to make unique garments that will quickly earn the market locally and internationally. To get the best raw material suppliers, we need to locate some merchandise who supply raw materials to the best textile companies in the market. The supplies should, however, be local to cut the cost of shipping materials through air freight or sea transport. To get the best equipment to produce the best quality textiles, international markets will give us one of the best gears to work with To get the best equipment to produce the best quality textiles, We may have to use a lot finances to allow the materials to get to us but it would be worth the cost.
Making
Raw material should go through a series of testing to determine their high quality. Suppliers of these materials should have a history of good quality products from other companies but if they are in the field for the first time, the supply management team will have to thoroughly test their products with our equipment for them to qualify as our suppliers. Before we fully give a contract to these new suppliers, we shall give them a two-month time for a benefit of doubt to ensure that their materials will be accepted in the market. we also need to have a large ware-house storage with high technology to ensure that the products and raw materials are in good conditions for a longer period of time.
Delivering
Goods ordered at morning hours should be delivered to the customers latest in the evening to give enough time to select the best good quality and packaging. Customers will receive their orders exactly half an hour from their preferred time to maintain delivery time. Orders made online should receive special handling, specifications and correct packaging. Payment should be done through PayPal and the financial management through the supply committee will handle payments. Deposits will be received before the goods are delivered and full payment done after the delivery. Bulk goods that should be delivered through trucks should be well handled and take two days before they are delivered. Such orders are crucial and requires proper handling through our survey team and supply management committee. We should also have an employer from the organization that has ordered the goods to give specific instruction on packaging and specifications of goods quality.
Returning
Excess products should be brought back intact and well packaged the same way they were ordered. We shall not accept products that are unsealed unless they are expired or in a wrong condition. Online orders should be returned immediately if they are unwanted excess or and we shall not accept them back once they are in the customer’s custody for more than two days. The company will monitor its supply network and keep its information flowing to reduce errors in deliveries and orders. If products are returned with defectives, research shall be carried out to find out irregularities that led to manufacture of bad products and measures put in place to avoid the same scenario next time.
