Survey Method and Questions

Survey research administration refers to the process through which researchers collect useful data from the target population. This can be done through interviews, online surveys like the use of telephones or research paper questionnaires. In the case of an online survey, automated fashion can be used to complete the survey. There are three standard methods of survey administration. These include the use of questionnaires (self-administration), group administration (interviewing), and drop-offs in households. Currently, many surveyors and researchers prefer using questionnaires over the other two. This paper focuses on recommended methods of the survey according to the set objectives, formed questionnaire questions, and an explanation of the best survey method I would use in my intended research.

Objective one

In determining how effective an advert can be during the Super Bowl product advertisement, managers need to focus on the ways and methods suitable to increase consumer awareness of the said product. Product advertisement is successful through an electronic or mail survey administration. Super Bowl covers a variety and a vast population of consumers, and with the current advances in technology, electronic survey administration is essential in creating customer awareness for the product. This method is feasible, practical, and savvy in terms of technology. Since the objective of product advertisement is gathering and reaching a high population, the electronic survey is suitable. The internet and email are currently advents making electronic survey administration a ‘go-to’ among cross-sectional mode of survey researchers to utilize it. The internet has created online apps that can help researchers to publish instruments for their survey as well as unique hyperlinks embedded in the emails. The hyperlinks are made in a way that allows participants to click and be directed to the study. This mode of the survey is advantageous for the Super Bowl product advertisement since the researchers will access a vast population on a simple click on the survey button.

Every survey method has advantages and disadvantages in its usage. Primarily, this survey administration method has problems on the participants’ side. Participants can opt to delete the survey after numerous surveys have been sent to them. More so, there are chances that some participants deactivate their emails while some may be busy and have no time to be checking on their emails, and hence, they don’t participate in the same. Furthermore, the technological gap is a consideration for researchers using this type of survey. Not all participants or target population will have access to technology or emails. On the other hand, some may have the technology but lack the know-how of using the emails and responding to the survey threads in general. Thus, under-representation will be an issue for such a survey (Presser et al. 2004).

The list of questions suitable to be included in this survey questionnaire to meet the set objective can consist of, but not limited to, the following; what information do you have about the product? Have you ever purchased and used the product? Was it useful, and did it meet your desired use? Can you consider including the product in your next purchases? Have you recognized any differences of the product from its previous models or models form other companies? What are your likes and dislikes about the product? What forms of advances and improvements would you like the product to have during its adjustments? Can you recommend your friends and family to purchase the product?

Objective two

In hospital settings, patient satisfaction is vital since it determines the quality of patient care and safety rendered to the patients. It also helps in encouraging the public domain that the hospital is ethical and satisfactory according to the AMA standards and requirements. Psychologically and cognitively, admitted patients are sensitive and emotional. Therefore, to determine their levels of satisfaction during their stay in the hospital will require a survey administration method that fosters emotional touch, compassion, and active listening. One-on-one interviewing will be essential and a preferable way of survey administration in an attempt to meet the set objective. It is a qualitative interview research method that provides in-depth information on the set purpose. The feedback received from this kind of research method is detailed since it is descriptive. It allows the patients to tell their stories freely, openly, and in their own words, making it easier for the researcher to understand how they feel about the research question. One-on-one or focus group interviews are crucial when the target population is psychological and cognitive (Van Horn et al. 2009). Due to the level of sensitivity in this method of survey, the data collected will be qualitative and accurate. It is time-consuming and tasking, but at the end of the study, the research will have adequate information since it is directly collected from the target population without influence or bias. Furthermore, the researchers can use this method of survey administration to give feasible tests and psychological instruments to the patients in question.

Suitable questions for this objective would include the following;

How can you rate your stay on a scale of 0-10 (0 lowest ten highest)? What is your overall feeling during your stay in the hospital; does it give you an at-home feeling or an out of place feeling?

During your hospital stay, can you explain what compassionate care means to you? What does compassionate care mean to you as an individual?

Is it important that you or your relatives are compassionately taken care when hospitalized? Why?

What are your thoughts about the professionals in this hospital? Are they compassionate? What is the reason for your answer?

Is there a time you or your relative felt compassionate care? When? Where?

Are there efforts towards understanding you and your care needs you have noticed from the nurses or caregivers in this ward?

During your stay in this hospital, how have the nurses and caregivers mage you feel towards their type of care?  Are you aware of the things happening to you to cause the worries? Do they involve you in decisions regarding your care?

Can you tell me what you do when you are worried and still hospitalized? Are you able/unable to tell the professionals looking after you about your fears?

Can you tell us about your thoughts on the type of working relationship among the professionals in this hospital? Do you the management team and the ward instructor in this hospital? Have you met any of them? If yes, how often? When you saw him or her, what was he or she doing?

Objective three

Research studies on decisions concerning career choices require qualitative methodologies and not quantitative ones. In determining whether a decision to pursue a career in law enforcement and gender has a relationship or not requires telephone survey administration or postal /online survey. Telephone administration is tedious and archaic since each detail on the study should be read to the participants. Furthermore, it requires standardized scripts that should be used by administrators in building rapport with their participants. Issues with the language barrier and change of phone numbers might hinder the use of telephone survey administration. Therefore, resolving a postal mail survey would be ideal in addressing the set objective. It is a traditional method of review usually used by the United States’ Census Bureau, commercial, and private business entities in collecting data for their research surveys (Bandilla et al. 2003). In this survey method, law enforcement participants will be male/female. The advantages of this type of survey method are that it gives the participants or the target population an incentive to take part in a survey. It also allows them to have an interaction with tangible things and aspects since a career decision is an issue that affects personalities. Incentives are ideal in creating cognitive dissonance whereby the participants are provoked, leading to intrapsychic distress about their future career hence prompting them to complete the survey questions.

The possible questions to be included in the questionnaire for this research method (postal email) would be; what is your past, family, and inspirations that led you to choose law enforcement? Can you agree that these were the push factors into your career choice? Do you believe that a law enforcement career is gender-sensitive? Why? Would you like to undertake another job other than the current one? If yes/no, why? If given a platform to advise students anticipating to pursue productive careers in the future, what would you tell them about law enforcement? Is it related to gender? If yes, what are the recommendations ideal for addressing this issue?

Objective four

When determining the perceptions of IT professionals on how best one can prepare for the IT career requires a technologically savvy research methodology. Since the target population is preferably individuals who are conversant with technology and the use of gadgets, it would be ideal to employ the electronic/ email and online survey administration (Hines et al. 2010). Since the electronic or email method is feasible, savvy, and practical, a large volume of participants will be inclusive in the study, and hence a variety of answers to the research question will be explored. This will provide a variety of responses intended to realize the set objective. Online apps such as Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat, and LinkedIn will be vital in conducting the research study through an online survey. Hyperlinks will be created on these apps to allow participants to have a single click that leads them to the survey questions. This survey method is advantageous for the IT survey arena.

The research questions that will be suitably included in the questionnaire will be; where did you take your IT studies? What was your proficiency? Did your college or university where you graduated from help you to get where you are either through placement or connections? What do you think pushed you through to your current position? What is the basic salary for an IT professional? Is your current salary what you expected when you decided to pursue this career? Given a platform of students who wish to pursue IT as a profession, what will be your advice to them?

In my intended research, I would choose the Group administration method of the survey since it is suitable for testing the suitability of the environment to use of specific instruments. It is essential because the response rate is immediate hence strengthens participants’ observation. More so, its sample size is always bigger for psychometric analysis.
