The evolution of mass communication as it pertains to legacy media: newspapers, radio, and television
In our studies this semester, we′ve explored the evolution of mass communication as it pertains to legacy media: newspapers, radio, and television. What we know now is that none of these areas exists as they did originally. All have found new homes on the Internet, in social media, and through engaged interactions. In some cases, the industries have crossed into each other. Media Analyst Dan Gillmor once said journalism, in particular, could no longer be a lecture (SMCR model) it had to be a conversation (transactional). Mass Communication is no longer one sided. It thrives on back and forth movement between. For this research paper, you are asked to choose either a piece of technology or an industry-wide modernization that, you believe, changed mass communication for better or worse.
