THE INTERNET WILL MAKE BOOKS REDUNDANT IN THE NEXT TWENTY YEARS

People seem to have different views on books, fate twenty years to come. Some have a strong belief that twenty years from today, printed books will still be in use as the primary publishing modality. In contrary to this, another group does think that e-books will have entirely replaced printed books twenty years from now (Castells, 2017).  The level of technology growth seems to be so fast every day; this is a clear indication that the traditional physical books will have been replaced by the internet for two decades to come. However,  technology and the internet might not be accessed by all individuals since some countries seems to lack behind in terms of network development. This appears to be a challenge to the availability of e-books in such countries.

The internet is a global network that enables the communication between people. It enables the communication between individuals in the far distance from each other.in the current academic system, universities and colleges provides internet as a unit in the syllabus and a sitting exam is offered as a concern. This has contributed to the rapid growth of internet in both urban and rural areas since bundles and WIFI are used to access it. Most people prefers soft and hard copy books rather than e-books since the internet is more addictive.

The internet is growing fast in the world a lot of people are using it, people are using internet to send email to people in the workplace, nowadays you don’t have to write and print document and distribute to your worker, you just right an email and all of your email will get it.

Personally I have a strong believe that the technology has not made books redundancy and twenty years to come no changes will have been made. Every night before I sleep I reads books regularly since it relaxes my eyes and I don’t have to strain while reading even though am vibrantly abreast with technology. Moreover, books are cheaper than access to internet. This study aims at pointing at both sides analysis before giving final stand at conclusion level.

Computer users’ number is ever growing and this has made internet be an easy way of availability of books and information in general. This kind of information is reliable. This indicates that it will be put on use to all people of different age. For example, for a single book has to be printed and distributed to all parts of the country, through use of internet the book has to be duplicated and later sent in order to be accessed. Internet existence has lowered the cost of making and marketing the book to the clients. Rather than turning wood to paper and then paper to book which is expensive it is better to distribute the books online since the whole process is cheaper. It will be less costly to copy paste the book rather than printing the book to new one.

Internet plays a vital role of storing and information disseminating. Some people have a strong believe that before twenty years to come it will replace books.  Any information that is needed is easily accessed after a simple click of internet search engines.as at now the internet has already made the traditional information source redundant since people do not seem to carry bulky of books as it was seen in later years (Fowler, 2016). Instead they seem to store eBooks on their smartphones and laptops. Internet has come up with various benefits such as minimal space of storage, less expensive as compared to printed book and can be easily shared with anyone in a second.

On the other, a few negative things might accrue if books are completely replaced by eBooks or the internet. To start with, reading eBooks for several hours without a break leads to eye strain. A lot of health complain such as neck and back pain comes from people who stairs at a screen for long hours. A paper book on contrary can be read on several hours without such complains or difficulties. Another disadvantage of internet based information source is that its not easily available. There is need of internet connection and a support device to access them. Due to this reason internet seems not a good companion when we travel. Paper books on the other hand, seems to be best travel buddies. The information available on the internet might not be reliable.

Modern world has changed dramatically in the past 100 years. Imagine in the previous century no one had an access to printed books. The rate of illiteracy was so high that there was no need of printing copies the same books either. But in this century the situation has changed and the books are easily accessible. The education is now achievable by both men and women from small age to aged level and the reading society is now grown.  Printed books seems to beat the society and the modern devices started to appear.

The use of website like St. Paul’s university has a website if you want to get information about the university. Example St. Paul you just go to their website and you will get all the information that you need and if you want to apply you apply online, you don’t have to come to St. Paul’s and apply there you just use their website. Many originations and university has a website that enable there customer to access it

Book lovers are now admitting that the extinction of printed books in now impossible. However many have agreed that printed books will disappear soon, as today electronic devices have replaced them (Morris, 2016).  In contract to this, millions of people prefers purchasing printed novels from one edition to the other of their favorite. The opinions on future of books to digital age seems to differ. Book lovers have proved that the better feeling of a book is to buy a book, touch several pages and feel their smell (Morris, 2016).  This magic makes them buy the books even though they can download them from the internet. To them, an answer to whether the e-books will replace the books is a no. to many collectors among the book lovers who prefer printed book editions as a business.

With the growth of technology in the 21st century. it is believed that with time electronic learning (E-learning) will surpass conventional class mode. E-learning entails the use of internet and electronic books ( E-books) and other electronic materials (E-materials) rather than printed hardcopies.

Lack of technological expertise. Some areas are still lagging with technology development. Some people have not yet embraced the sweeping change in technology. Others are still torn between two opinions to embrace internet or to follow the traditional means. On the other hand, Some of us have a belief that 20 years to come printed books will still be used while others believe the use of e-books will take over and replace the printed ones. If we consider growth in technology and the rate at which internet is developing am convinced that internet will make books dormant in next 20 years.

Due to network coverage internet might fail to take over books in the next twenty years. Some areas are still left with no internet coverage even though it is anticipated that this problem will be solved in unpredictable future. On the other hand, governments and organizations are making efforts to see that all areas have network coverage and internet can be accessed as this will lower their cost of communication.

Due to poverty and economic challenges, some areas might find it hard to technological change. To adjust towards embracing technology means this will have cost attached to it. Some areas are marginalized and economically challenged even to be able to meet basic needs. To solve this challenge, Invention of gadgets like desktops, laptops, Smart Phones, I pads, I phones, Tablets, among others, is making it easier to access internet anywhere anytime. Besides, free applications and software’s are easily available to be installed in these gadgets thus making it easier and cheap to download E-books. Most E-books are freely accessed and if any charge to be paid it’s always cheaper and efficient than accessing the hard printed books. These books are downloaded and stored for offline referencing. Some of these books are Bible (different versions), Koran, Dictionary, Cookery books etc. This it cheaper compared to the cost of purchasing a hardcopy.

Internet has been proved as a reliable system which has facilitated an easy way for information and the books.  It can also be used by people of all age. An example is when books are needed in a huge number hey they must be multiplied before shipping to different areas. But on the internet it’s easy to duplicate the book and sent the copy.Internet has lowered processing cost involved in book making, instead of costly process of turning wood into book the best way to do is to distribute the book online to lower the cost. Example it’s easy to copy past a book rather than printing a new one. The cost of publishing, printing and making copies of books to be distributed is higher than publishing the books online.  It saves time to deliver books online as they can be accessed from different areas soonest they are published online. Printed books take long from publishing, shipment and distribution.

The marketing cost is also lowered for E-books since no staff are employed to distribute and the cost of displaying is minimized. With internet it’s easier to market products since the users need only to know what they need and they search online- library is comprehensive. It offers a wide range of publication at “one stop shop”. In addition, the gadgets to access the internet are sold at reduced prices due to high competition in the market. This works in the favor of the users or consumers.

Making books redundant might not be that easy because many communities loves reading books much. There is an expectation that this community and behavior will continue even in generation to come.this is to mean that in twenty years to come the internet will be use to support books.it will only be used as a backbone hence helping in popularizing the use of books.it will also be useful in provision of surfing of basic information in which the reader will be able to ponder over searching library for extra details of the books in search. Some communities do not prefer reading books online but searches best books and purchases the hard copy rather that e Books. This is to indicate that the internet will be used as a means in which a person will be able to find the content, trading as well as best book in the market.

In contrary to this, Books are losing value the will not have importance in the future the images that are represented in books are not clear and interesting but in the internet they are 3Dimagine that are much more better than those in the books, those images are interesting and the give you the desire to ready more and study the images. Books does not have a lot of example is just three of four examples but the internet the information that you will be searching will come with a lot of example and if you need more you  can search for them and you will get them.

In future there will be internet even in the rural places inform of WIFI, zuku, mowifi and other form that will enable people to access the internet this will help people to access it anytime that the want (Wallace, 2014) 20years to come the will be no school, university, organization, hospital or public places that will not have the internet, you can be travelling and log in to the internet and start reading, gathering information for you next class in the bus, preparing a presentation while taking tea in a restaurant you will not have to go to  the library such of a book look of a specific topic and read about it you can just such the title of the topic and you will get more than 20 result of that topic it you to decide which one you need.

The internet contain all the information and the next 20 years the will be nothing that you can’t find in the internet, being the matter of religious there rule there churches where they are located how to get there, matter of school if you want to research about a university you will find it in the internet where it is collected, the courses offered there and all the information that you may want. Hospital you will find all the information in the intern the kind of treatments that the offer, where they are located. Any company that you desire to search for you will find them in the internet how the work. Information about politics, events that are coming is there, football, sports all kind of stop information you will find it in the internet. If you desire to know how to cook different dish you don’t need to buy a book at follow the receipt step by step you can the information of a particular food that you want in the intern you have to search if you want to know how to cook a certain meal you just search for it and you will find it there and if you can’t understand the is a lot of tutorial on how to cook the meal you can see them how the cook and follow it step by step. Information about abuse of drugs and there effect you will find it there, information about marriages you will find it in the internet. If you are look for poems of every kind you will find it in the internet. There is nothing that you cannot get in the internet all the information is in the internet with different explanation and examples are provided.

The internet is cheap you just have to purchase daily, weekly or monthly data and you can access the internet and read all that you want, books are very expensive to purchase them but the internet is easy you just have to buy bundle and you access the internet and get all the information that you need. If you do not understand the information, you can search for tutorials that will help you to understand the information that you are searching. They are a lot of tutorial of every information in the intern and with different people who have record video and place them in the internet to help us. Some of us are not good at reading you can use those tutorial and gear them explain the information and you will understand it better.

In conclusion, I do not believe that at any point in life, the internet will make books redundant. A larger number of people have that desire to sit in a quiet corner and turn the pages. They like the book experience very much; this is what kids learn even before looking at a book. It is just a natural human experience. The existence of economic differences in internet development among nations makes it even harder for it to make books redundant. I do not believe that books will be completely out of fashion because of their inherent advantages that eBooks lack. Despite the challenges of implementing internet in various areas the advantages seems to be more and this are:

  1. Due to high competition in the market, internet providers are making it cheaper to access internet to their subscribers.
  2. Governments and organizations are making efforts to see that all areas have network coverage and internet can be accessed as this will lower their cost of communication.
  3. Invention of gadgets like desktops, laptops, Smart Phones, I pads, I phones, Tablets among others, is making it easier to access internet anywhere anytime.
  4. Free applications and software’s are easily available to be installed in these gadgets thus making it easier and cheap to download E-books.
  5. The cost of publishing, printing and making copies of books to be distributed is higher than publishing the books online. It saves time to deliver books online as they can be accessed from different areas soonest they are published online. Printed books take long from publishing, shipment and distribution.
  6. The marketing cost is also lowered for E-books since no staff are employed to distribute and the cost of displaying is minimized. With internet it’s easier to market products since the users need only to know what they need and they search online.
  7. E- Library is comprehensive. It offers a wide range of publication at “one stop shop”.
  8. The gadgets to access the internet are sold at reduced prices due to high competition in the market. This works in the favor of the users or consumers.

It is of no doubt in the next twenty years internet will take lead over printed books. Therefore, internet will eventually make the books redundant.
