Use of electronic health records
The use of electronic health records has increased privacy and security for patients and service providers. Hacking of a health care facility system has been an issue of concern; thus, the hospital should ensure appropriate security measures to protect sensitive information. The hospital has set a legal goal of performing information technology assessment on the software, hardware, and entire hospital system. Individuals operating the hospital system should cross-check for any weaknesses, which can make the facility vulnerable to digital threats like cyber attacks. The IT assessment should be run once in a year to help reduce threats and increase workflow progress. Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and its privacy rule will help the hospital and its providers do not violate privacy rules and ensure the safety of patient’s information. Use of Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health Act (HITECH) ensure tools and devices utilized in the hospital are protected from hackers and leakage of information.
