Final Project part 3
Research question
What is the impact of effective leadership during the coronavirus pandemic? Van Bavel, 2020 argues that effective leadership is essential to help nations cruise the coronavirus’s problematic crises. Ineffective leadership is catastrophic as it accelerates killings and murders through financial challenges. Incidences of homicide are increasing in various parts of the world due to coronavirus (Calton, Abedini, & Fratkin, 2020). Distress and financial problems are a significant contribution to cases of homicide in the globe. On 25th May, a forty-six-year-old George Floyd was killed by the police following the shopkeeper’s $20 false claim. The lack of effective communication among the authorities resulted in the death of George Floyd. The incidence of homicide depicts a lack of effective leadership in times of crisis by the police force. President Trump’s administration has, however, rose to the occasion to deploy three involved officers and use the military to separate demonstrators. Effective executions of the separation will be ideal for enforcing one-meter social distance among the people.
Hypothesis
Effective leadership has no impact in combating or reducing the spread of coronavirus. Countries that have reduced the spread of coronavirus; therefore, don’t imply that they have effective leaders than the rest. The incidences, which therefore breach the government regulations of keeping social distance and reducing mass gatherings, do not result from poor governance (Chinazzi et al., 2020). This research will seek to find out the correlation between active management and the spread of coronavirus. This study will explore the authenticity of the homicide incidence on George Floyd does not relate to poor governance.
Study design
The study involves the use of secondary sources such as the Google search engine to compare the correlation between effective leadership and combating the spread of coronavirus. For this research, a computer with windows ten was used to compare journal articles from Google scholar. This study involved comparing published materials regarding the coronavirus situation in various countries. The statistics of the written materials were analyzed to determine the correlation between states with effective management and the degree of coronavirus spread. Written materials of effective management and effective communication strategies in policy execution and pandemic management will also be ideal. This study will seek to determine whether the primary cause of the murder of George Floyd is poor governance or not.
The study will also seek to compare written materials regarding the aftermath of inadequate leadership measures, which result in demonstrations risking the spread of the virus. Both journals and journal articles were crucial in executing this research. The materials will also seek to justify the impact of poor governance on the killing of George Floyd. Further, the paper will attempt to evaluate the effectiveness of demonstrations in countering the spread on covid-19. The article will try to determine the strategies evident by Trump’s administration in managing the virus’s spread.
For this research, the coronavirus pandemic is an independent variable since it is widespread in most countries. The government’s impact and control strategies are dependent variables as they depend on the government set strategies. Various nations, therefore, employs various measures in combating the spread of the pandemic.
Methodology
Using a computer with windows 10, the Google search engine was run with a critical word coronavirus pandemic in various countries. Three countries of the United States, North Korea, and Tanzania were run in the search box independently. The independent results from multiple searches were noted, and the information recorded differently. The data from three various participating countries was crucial as they have numerous measures in combating the spread of coronavirus (Cowling, & Aiello, 2020). Besides neighboring China, North Korea has not recorded a single case of coronavirus. The United States, on the other hand, has a high spread of the facts, but the rate of infection is significantly reduced. Tanzania, on the other hand, has the least measures in place for the combating of the range of coronavirus.
Discussion part A
Effective leadership has no impact on the spread of the coronavirus. This is evident in North Korea, which is widely known to be insecure and inadequate governance. Regardless of the weak managerial strategies and in this Asian country, the country is yet to confirm a single case of coronavirus (Sabino-Silva, Jardim, & Siqueira, 2020). This information is in contrast to the United States, widely known for democracy and effective administration. The US is among the countries with the highest covid-19 infections in the world and thus proving the lack of correlation between leadership and the spread of coronavirus. The East-African nation of Tanzania also shows the fact through the word of mouth as the Tanzanian President declared its nation a corona-free country. He purported that Tanzania had contained the virus regardless of failing to lock down the country.
The study found out that the killing of George Floyd is a sign of irresponsibility by the police force and not a show of managerial failure. The three police officers took a quick step in killing the victim rather than following the laid down procedures in the constitution. These results support the facts from previous arguments of police mishandle the people elevating insecurity in the country (van Bavel et al., 2020). Generally, the murder incident of George Floyd is not a managerial issue but rather an irresponsibility by some officers.
Discussion Part B
The results signify that effective governance has a strong correlation to combating coronavirus. The secondary sources argue that North Korea avoided importing coronavirus by closing the country in time. The nation was able to mobilize her people, from closing the border into China and banning all Wuhan flights on time. Scholars argue that the firm management of North Korea was evident in mobilizing people from moving to china effectively. Similarly, states in the US that are the most affected result from more interaction and lack of heeding the set rules of reducing the spread of the virus. In this case, a state like New York was unable to ban the interaction among people in time. Reports from the US embassy in Tanzania also argued that it was easier for one to get an infection is Dar-salaam as the country has high rates of infections. Generally, effective management has a positive correlation with combating the spread of coronavirus.
The findings echo the findings of van Bevan, 2020, that leaders as the central figures to combat the spread of coronavirus in the world. National leaders have the primary task of seeking to pass effective regulatory measures that work to reduce the spread of the virus. Experts warn against the places of mass gathering, such as demonstrations as they may be the hotbeds in spreading the virus.
Conclusion
The article has produced in-depth literature regarding the spread of coronavirus and effective leadership. Coronavirus infections are more likely to be higher in nations with weaker covid-19 guidance. Countries with effective management are expected to control and contain the spread of the pandemic (Cowling, & Aiello, 2020). Leaders have a primary task of enforcing the proposed measures by experts in various parts of the world. Generally, effective management is a crucial tool for avoiding the spread of coronavirus in multiple parts of the world.
