what tools in technology & psychology would you use to manage your staff & make sure they get the best outcome for work
You are a department head & you have 20 staff under you, what tools in technology & psychology would you use to manage your staff & make sure they get the best outcome for work but are also satisfied at work, such that they are happy with what they do, enjoy it & can perform well at work. *
As a department head, I need to stay engaged, motivate, and incentivize the staff under me to do well. A disengaged staff is not only a drain on my resources but can make a culture where no one is motivated to thrive. Here are the following strategies I would follow
Dealing with conflict resolution reasonably and logically. As a department head, I will have staff who have different personalities, ideologies. Friction would occur as people work together. I would deal with conflict directly and evenhandedly. As a department head, I will not bulldoze the conflict but look for a fair, constructive resolution. I would have to continue to work with these same people in the future. A harmonious atmosphere increases productivity.
I will attempt to see things through from other people’s perspectives. There are reasons why a particular staff is difficult to manage. The staff may always be this way or something be contributing, for example, maybe I was needlessly nitpicking people, and i was unconscious I was doing it until it was accurately pointed out to me. I would look at a problematic situation holistically and gain insights into why the staff is acting that way, and it would help me come up with a constructive solution.
Looking for help when I need to – support is everywhere in an organization, but is often neglected. I would get perspective on a problematic staff from someone whose judgment i trust. For example, it could be a Human Resources contact, a mentor, or a colleague or another department head. Seeking opinions on different times when staff issues occur is not a sign of weakness. As a result, it will help me to effectively manage the staff resulting in a happy and satisfied team.
Time is money; Time management contributes directly to an upsurge in company productivity and efficiency, in turn, improving results. As head of the department, I would recommend, the company to use time management techniques. A lack of time is often mistaken for disorganization. It will reduce pressure on the staff and saying it wasn’t possible to finish all your daily activities. I will recommend the following technologies
Todoist-Available for multiple operating systems, it is an excellent alternative for those who want to organize task lists.
Rescue Time- It records a personal development and tells a person how much of his/her time is being wasted through procrastination.
As a department head, I will try to build a culture of motivation; it is a great way to keep my staff happy at work. Staff should feel interested in their projects, compensation, and benefits. Job performance is said to be a function of ability multiplied by motivation. I would use motivation tools like TINYpulse- it helps leaders to identify work problems, it features real-time feedback recognition, goal setting, and weekly checking.
