World Bicycle organization uses storytelling to attract the reader to the organization. The story involves how the introduction of a bicycle in the organization beneficiaries’ life had a significant impact. An example of the account used by the organization is Belita’s journey. The story is about an orphan known as Belita, who rose before 5 a.m to trek to her school, which was 5km away. Therefore, due to the long-distance, Belita did not have time to help her grandmother with the morning chores. After the classes, she would begin walking home, saving enough time to help with the tasks, eat and complete her homework if time allowed. Belita’s daily routine was hard and affected her performance in school. One year later, Belita improved in her class and had no trouble arriving at school and can help her grandmother with chores. She sees herself finishing primary school before enrolling in a nurse training college.
A single Buffalo Bicycle facilitated the changing of Belita’s life. As a result of the World Bicycle Relief Bicycle for Educational Empowerment Program (BEEP) in Zambia, Belita was able to overcome the distance challenge. Belita’s story of hardship is an example of many children who are unable to fulfill their dreams due to limited resources and lack of proper education. With her new bike, Belita now makes easy work of riding to the nearby village and selling vegetables grown from their farm. Also, when her grandmother fell ill, she used the bicycle to take her to the hospital. Belita’s ambitions are currently close enough. She wants to stay centered and make a substantial effort to accommodate herself and her grandmother. Through her difficult work and assurance, she longs for a future that will incorporate another home, iron sheets for material, money consistently for use at the homestead, TV, fitting garments, and sun oriented influence board for our ranch.
World Bicycle organization uses such a story to attract people to join the organization and support their activities. Most people are motivated and greatly influenced and touched by how a bicycle can have a significant impact on a person’s life. Therefore, most of the people join the organization and also share the story through social media to attract more people. Through this process, the organization can gain the interest of big companies which later sponsor their activities. With help from donors and sponsors, the organization can continue helping people in rural areas in many developing countries and posing a positive impact on their lives.
