E-cigarettes
Claim being investigated
The claim being investigated is the harm caused by E-cigarettes. There has been a notion that the E-cigarettes are not as harmful or, instead, are less harmful than tobacco cigarettes hence the paper is trying to prove otherwise and make it clear with appropriate facts that the harm done by both is the same and are both severe and harmful to their users.
What is the counter-argument to this claim?
The counter-argument is that both E-cigarettes and tobacco cigarettes pose harm to their users, unlike the perceptions claiming that one is less harmful than the other. Here, both cigarettes will get analyzed deeply to assess their cons and their similarities. With this information and evidences, then convincing others will be less difficult. The individuals involved in making these claims are the smokers themselves and a few other members of the public. The parties interested in this claim are mostly scientists and doctors ho aim to change these perceptions and make it clear that smoking is smoking regardless of the type of cigarette, and the effects are the same.
Information
It is claimed that e-cigarettes have a lower percentage of nicotine, unlike tobacco cigarettes hence pose lee harmful effects than tobacco cigarettes. Secondly, E-cigarettes have the potential of benefitting others and harming others (Goniewicz et al.,2015). Various scientists are still working on that research. Thirdly, the e-cigarettes can benefit older smokers who are not pregnant if only they are used as substitutes for regular tobacco cigarettes.
Fallacies
Fallacies associated with this subject matter are that majority of people, especially the youth, think that the harmfulness of these cigarettes is dose-dependent. Also, one in three youths thinks that e-cigarettes are not as harmful as conventional cigarettes (Ambrose et al.,2014). The less you smoked, the less the side effects of smoking would harm you
Many scientists have conducted researches on this subject matter, and different scientists have come up with different conclusions according to their case studies. In other researches done, some students did not know about e-cigarettes or enough knowledge to answer research questions issued out. The best way to assess this case is by having backed-up evidence because that is the only way people will believe otherwise. Also, this topic should get taught to the people so that they understand this and brush off the fallacies being spread everywhere by non-professionals in the medical field.
Conclusion
With the right methods and researches, then this notion can be cleared, and people will stop spreading false information on e-cigarettes.
