Incapability for self- definition is another common challenge resulted from the inability to understand the language. Esperanza suffers from this as she can define her occupation as an artist and also as a woman.
Understanding language is essential, knowing the language results to Esperanza understanding and defining herself. She accepts herself and knows her place as a writer in society .later she decides to write down her experiences. This enables her to have power .freedom from some social problems may result to literacy power.
