In any environment success is dependent on effective and efficient communication. This calls for correct, clear and concise information conveyed in a form which cannot be misinterpreted or misunderstood. My reputation in upholding good communication skills has helped me achieve successful performance in various aspects, including my career.

My extensive work experience in the legal field, coupled with vast experience working as an executive manager, has significantly impacted my communication skills. These roles involve a great amount of interactions, and transmission of information and feedback. Concise, complete, clear and correct information are the key skills contributing to this. Effective communication is complete, specific, straight to the point and vivid. Also, courtesy and consideration go hand in hand. The receiver is able to understand and decode the message in accordance with the original intent.

I regularly interact with clients, personnel, regulators, and competitors. For such interactions to produce the desired outcomes, effective communication is imperative. With such varying personalities, a number of challenges are expected. Emotional barriers and differences in perception and viewpoint are some of the major barriers to effective communication. A skilled communicator should remain aware of these barriers and try to reduce their effects. This technique saw an increase in the number of repeat clients accompanied with good working reviews (Mercer & Kuchel, 2017).

Effective communication is concise and upholds courtesy. A particularly telling incident, was during a kidnap for ransom on one of our client’s toddler by his opponent. I was responsible for communicating with the crew, to boost morale, and also succeeded in negotiating for the release of the kidnapped toddler while ensuring our daily duties remained unaffected. The whole operation was a success which resulted in my promotion within the organization.
