indows is a Microsoft owned operating system which was invented in 1981
There has been a battle of operating systems for many years. This battle is not only among the creators of these technologies but also between the users on the grounds of preference. Notably, there has been a tug of war between the macOS and the windows for almost 40 years. there is not much of a difference in the history of both operating systems as they were both created in the 1980s. Specifically, the MacOS is a later generation of the classic MacOS established in 1984 under the Macintosh family. The first version after the purchasing of the Macintosh by Apple was mac OS X in 1999. On the other hand, windows is a Microsoft owned operating system which was invented in 1981 only three years before the Macintosh. The first windows, 1.0, was released in 1983.
Comparatively, the two competitors have a similar history of popularization. It is essential to consider that the line of popularizing and naming of the operating systems from Microsoft and Apple is identical. For instance, there is an everyday use of numbers in the naming of the different versions. For example, apart from the mac OS X that lasted till 2012 and OS X, there have been versions such as the Mac OS 9. On the other hand, there are windows versions such as Windows 7, 8, and 10. This fact shows similar ideas for improvement.
The main difference lies in the interface and the various features in these two systems. For instance, the windows make use of the start menu and taskbar to enable users to navigate through the system. The focus is on improving the stability and efficiency through the improvement of these two features that are the backbone of using the windows. On the other hand, the macOS, which is an Apple OS, utilizes the use of Dock to give the user access to applications and shortcuts in the navigation around the system. Additionally, the macOS uses the finder while windows rely on the file explorer to move through the hard drive. While the Macintosh popularized the user interface, it was Microsoft that brought about the interface manager, which is based on a similar idea but with different navigation features.
In terms of security, there is a reliance by the apple system on the use of Siri, which allows activation through voice detection protocol, which in the windows is called Cortina. However, there is a clear indication that macOS is a much safer option since all devices can be controlled from one point where the developer updates security features for the software and hardware. The windows require frequent updating of the security features, including a high reliance on anti-virus software. Comparatively, the windows are susceptible to attacks from external sources. However, Apple has control of its secure firewall, which makes it challenging to sabotage.
Further, it is significant to point out that the apple system focuses more on present ability. In essence, there is the consistency of the applications and their appearance in all devices with the use of soft edges. However, the windows appear to offer freedom of customization, especially in terms of applications used. This fact shows that the apple company has higher control over applications used in devices.
Despite all these differences in the two systems, it is evident that there are similarities and that the difference is only to a higher extent caused by users’ tastes. For instance, to log in to the MacBook Pro, the user may utilize the touch bar, which is also applicable to the windows 10, indicating the inclination towards biometric technology. Additionally, both systems can be used without necessarily having an apple or Microsoft account.
