Traction in the Adoption of Medical Innovations

Medical fields, just like any other field, relies on innovations to achieve efficiency and solutions to some medical problems. The commentary is about the controversial topic of why some medical innovations get adopted faster than others. I find it insightful for most of the ideas shared are realistic. For instance, some innovations that are costly to be implemented or those that need complex equipment to implement. For such people tend to run away from such putting in place such innovations because in most cases, the innovations provide accessories to the primary treatment process. Like for the case of the pain-relieving case that involved the use of an inhaler, having an inhaler that serves no other purpose when there are alternatives solutions to pain during surgery makes it unwise to consider the method and the innovation. Some innovations are not preferred by many for having alternatives that are cheaper for acquisition and implementing. The information presented in the commentary is likely to be real for there is the backing information provided is more realistic. Following the idea that there are innovations, specifically medical innovations that are not widely used despite the fact that they were discovered or invented some time back and they perform well.

There are several reasons for some innovations being associated with traction as others thrive once discovered. Relative advantage is one of such reasons; in simple terms, the relative advantage is a perceived advantage of using a certain option. The relative advantage only comes in play when the innovation has several options already in existences and people are likely to adopt innovation as per his/her perception of the innovation. Compatibility is another important aspect that comes into play when adopting innovation for use while attempting to solve some of the industrial problems. The compatibility comes in the form of the effort needed for the innovation to be used and the needed equipment for the innovation as well. Innovations that call for the employment of new employees and procurement of new equipment that might be highly costly will likely to be adopted on a smaller scale as that which requires common knowledge with no new equipment to operate. The complexity of the innovations also determines the degree of adoption. Highly complex innovations are not preferred; the reason for such is that it requires time and resources to acquire knowledge on operation and managing of such new innovations. On the contrary, innovations that are simple and less complex are highly adopted for they can be used with the involvement of least resources and time.

Innovations are useful in the medical field at large. The many problems in the medical arena have been solved with the help of many innovations present. Innovations have as well acted as accessories to solutions in the medical field, considering that it is a complex field with challenging problems. Health innovation has been considered an avenue that has not been fully exploited and many people around the world have come up with developments in the same sector. Health innovation has made it easier to access information and records at a hospital or health facility. The innovations have made it easier for some medical processes to be undertaken with ease. For instance, the anaesthesia innovation made it possible for doctors to perform an operation on patients having different complications with ease. Dental medicine is an important aspect of medicine that uses innovations; x-rays are used for jaw imaging. When it is necessary for assessment of the jawbones of people, the innovation is put to use. There is a huge deal of innovations used by dentists and other doctors to view the internal organs of patients at the hospital. The usefulness of such is that they enable the doctors to assess the situation of the patients.
